The future in web computing
Progressive Web Apps (PWA) are said to be the future. The next generation of websites are called Progressive Web Apps. A PWA can be referred to as a “Phone App” that uses your phone’s web browser and NO DOWNLOADS are required. A PWA has most of the native-app like functions such as an icon on your phone desktop, full screen mode, ability to receive notifications and also the ability to store data off-line. True PWA’s need to meet high standards and are certified through Google Chrome’s Lighthouse feature. To better understand the classification and generations of website technology can be referred to as:
- Gen 1 - Website - A website, usually looks good on desktop only
- Gen 2- Responsive Website - A website that will auto adjust to mobile screen size or any device
- Gen 3- Web App - A website that can go full screen on your phone and most likely performs feedback functions.
- Gen 4 - Progressive Web App - A mobile application, that does all the above but allow a mobile icon to be installed to your phone/tablet desktop, full screen mode, optimized performance, has the ability to cache data on your phone. Also, has the ability to implement push notifications through the web browser.

THE WEB IS ABOUT TO CHANGE. Accessing data from the cloud with 5G speeds is on the way. Imagine mobile connectivity 10 to 50 times faster than what you have now. Big websites will load in split seconds as a full HD two hour movie may download in less than 30 seconds compared to today’s 20 minutes on a fast 4G LTE. With lightning like speeds, websites will be capable of providing a lot more content to users. The question to business owners: “Is your website configured to take advantage of 5ghz connectivity?"
WEB APP DEVELOPMENT WILL INCREASE
In the past, most of your apps on your phone would require media and heavier code whereas pre-downloading the application prior to use was logical. As 5g becomes available, most of that data required can be delivered to your device within split seconds. A web-based app is the most efficient method to deliver your application or website to consumers. As for most games and augmented reality applications, downloading will still be necessary because they may require excessive storage and some applications may need to access the device’s hardware such as the phone camera. OUR TEAM
JOHN DESTACAMENTO
John is the Founder of Web Wizzy where he oversees all aspects of business strategy, partnerships and execution. Along with providing his expertise in Fitness Consulting, John contributes heavily to Full Stack Development (one of his passions) for engineering. His extensive fitness background includes over 27 years training 30,000+ hours of clients’ sessions. He has several fitness certifications and was a Fitness Educator and tester/instructor for WITS personal training certification courses. As a personal trainer, John worked four years with 24 Hour Fitness and nine years running his own 2000 squarefoot facility which was called Sweat Studio and spun off to the name Sweat Pros. Since 1993, he continues to provide Personal Trainer Services but now devotes most of his time to Web Wizzy. In his earlier years, John has dedicated over 11 years of experience in the manufacturing industry as a Production Control Analyst for Silicon Graphics, Senior Material Logistics Planner for Applied Materials and Master Scheduler for Indala, a division of Motorola.
SAI RAMAMOORTHY
Sai currently serves as a Technical Advisor to Web Wizzy. Sai brings over twenty years of broad experience in engineering, technology and operational leadership. Sai currently leads Operating Systems at Juniper Networks. Prior to this he served as Head of Engineering for Web Wizzy delivering cloud based application delivery along with a rich set of service APIs and predictive analytics. Sai has held several executive and technical roles serving as VP of Engineering at Polycom and Director of Software at Cisco. Prior to Cisco, Sai worked on advanced chip-design verification software for Mentor Graphics and a few startups.Sai finds the confluence of interdisciplinary expertise and technology fascinating, coupled with data driven insights to drive actionable intelligence benefiting all. In addition to technology, Sai loves coffee and hiking. Sai has a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kentucky at Lexington
and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering from BITS, Pilani.
